Content Management Systems (CMS)

Content is King

We all know that the more content you have the better your ranking with Google. But what if you had to update your content by hand, with HTML code, and every time the navigation changed you had to manually change it on every single page? I bet there would be a ton of broken links and just plain confusion where none needed to be, “wait did I change that page yet?” This is why people use Content Management Systems. We need a simple way to update our very important content quickly and without using ftp or going on the server directly. Valen Designs can give you the tools you need to update content, links, images, videos, or just about any media you can think of with the help of a Content Management System in a fraction of the time it would take you to do it the slow and painful old fashioned way.

Joomla CMS

One of the most powerful Open Source Content Management Systems on the planet. It is used all over the world for everything from simple websites to complex corporate applications. Joomla! is easy to install, simple to manage, reliable, and a free open source content management system for publishing content on the web and intranets. The system includes features such as page caching to improve performance, RSS feeds, printable & PDF versions of pages, news flashes, blogs, polls, website searching, and language internationalization to name a few. This CMS is usually used for large community driven websites that need more than a smaller less robust CMS can offer in terms of true user interaction.

Drupal CMS

Another powerful Open Source Content Management Systems is Drupal, which is equipped with a great blend of tools for maintaining your online content that make websites fun again. It comes with some pretty nice features right out of the box, like a simple forum that is natively integrated into the CMS, so no need to learn PHPBB3 if all you need is a small forum. Just like Joomla, this is a great CMS for intermediate level clients who can take the time to learn how to really unleash their web sites full potential.

WordPress CMS

Now, if what you need is a lighter more user friendly Open Source CMS that can be expanded from just a simple blog to a small or medium sized web site with almost all the bells and whistles, Wordpress is the one for you. It loads fast and doesn’t require as much of a learning curve as the previous two Content Management Systems. However, there are things that the others can do that are just not a viable option in Wordpress, but we will recommend the one that is right for your for your specific project. Don’t get us wrong we love Wordpress and use it for our site, so we have this beast tamed and know what it can and shouldn’t do.

Custom CMS

As a fourth option, you can have us roll out your very own custom CMS. This is usually not necessary because we can build almost anything with the other Content Management Systems, but always an option for the projects that need a personal touch or require some functionality that doesn’t exist yet.
